St. Peter Newsletter September 8, 2017 – God Keep Us All Safe — No Church On Sunday — Wednesday Eve Liturgy Cancelled

September 8, 2017

Jesus Walking on the Water
Jesus Walking on the Water

It goes without saying there will be no Divine Liturgy on Sunday. I know everyone has figured this out but since I promised to notify you consider this the notification.

Yesterday after Divine Liturgy (Nativity of the Theotokos) we all prayed and asked God for his protection and for the protection of all people in this hurricane. These events are a mystery but they occur which why we hear petitions against such things as flood, fire, and other calamities prayed.

Everyone in the Church is accounted for. This person is taking care of that person, the third is checking in on the fourth, and so forth. It is a beautiful thing to behold and makes us all stronger. “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) the Apostle Paul teaches us.

We removed all materials near the front window — altar items, icons from walls, entry way icons and so forth. This is to protect the property in case one of the panes in the front window blows out. Irma is a fierce storm and we want to be prepared.

Power will probably be out so don’t expect a bulletin on Tuesday. The liturgy scheduled for next Wednesday at 6:30pm (Elevation of the Cross) is cancelled. We will catch up next Sunday.

Pray for one another. And may the Lord bless you and keep you. May He shine the light of His countenance upon you and be gracious unto you, and give you peace.

God bless you and may God bless St. Peter’s.

Fr. Hans
