John R. Hansen, 70, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Friday, August 20, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 29, 1948 in Racine, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Clarence and Yolaine Hansen. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth and sister, Mary.
John was a devoted husband to his college sweetheart and love of his life., Frieda. They enjoyed nearly 44 blissful years of marriage. He was a loving father to Katina (Ryan) and Michael (Kelly), and a Papou (grandfather) who cherished his grandchildren, Jack, Lucy, and Jill.
He adored traveling, especially to Paris for a bistro meal, to Chicago to catch the Auto Show or a Cub’s game, and to California to hike amongst the redwoods. He developed a passion for cooking and baking. His crusty bread and homemade pizza are legendary. He treasured life’s simple pleasures, like colorful beach sunset, a steaming cup of coffee and the paper in bed, dog snuggles or a nice piece of pie. Above all, he treasured simple pleasures with family.
John attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. he went on to have successful careers in the banking and real estate industries. He served on the Board of Directors for the Independence Center, the Apartment Owners Association and was the co-president of the Saint Peter’s Orthodox Church parish council.
John had great faith in the Lord. He deeply loved his church and was very passionate about the church’s mission. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to:

Services will be held on Friday, August 17th at Saint Peter’s Orthodox Church. Visitation will be held from 9:30am – 11:00am followed immediately by the funeral service.
