Truly He has Risen!<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">The First Sunday after Pascha<br \/>Sunday of Thomas the Apostle<\/h2>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Germanos, patriarch of Constantinople; Epiphanios, bishop of Cyprus<\/h4>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stpeterorthodoxchurch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/thomas-sunday-500x347.png\" alt=\"The Sunday of Thomas the Apostle\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Sunday of Thomas the Apostle<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Though the doors were shut at the dwelling where the disciples were gathered for fear of the Jews on the evening of the Sunday after the Passover, our Saviour wondrously entered and stood in their midst, and greeted them with His customary words, &#8220;Peace be unto you.&#8221; Then He showed unto them His hands and feet and side; furthermore, in their presence, He took some fish and a honeycomb and ate before them, and thus assured them of His bodily Resurrection.<\/p>\n<p>But Thomas, who was not then present with the others, did not believe their testimony concerning Christ&#8217;s Resurrection, but said in a decisive manner, &#8220;Except I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wherefore after eight days, that is, on this day, when the disciples were again gathered together and Thomas was with them, the Lord Jesus came while the doors were shut, as He did formerly. We support our members through the Good Samaritan Fund, an earmark in our budget to aid parish families through the occasional hard times that come. With the weakening economy and particularly with the high inflation, the needs are increasing and the funds are running low. <\/p>\n<p>We would like to raised $10,000 to $15,000 to replenish the fund. Your gift will remain anonymous (it will be recorded on your year end statement as a charitable donation) as well as those who receive it. <\/p>\n<p>Please contribute a separate check with the notation &#8220;Good Samaritan Fund&#8221; in the memo line. Give it to Fr. Hans or Ron Franklin or drop it in the offering box.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h2>Bible Bowl Invitation!<\/h2>\n<p>All teens are invited to join our Catechism team and study the book of Romans. Actually adults are invited too as we can have an adult team as well.<br \/>\nSt. Peter&amp;rsquo;s teens won 2nd place last year at the Parish Life Conference for the Diocese of Miami and the Southeast.<\/p>\n<p>The competition this year will be held in Georgia, near Atlanta over the weekend of June 13-15. All questions for the competition will be from the book of Romans. <\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in studying Romans, whether you want to travel to the conference in Georgia or just study with the team, please contact Diana Najjar at 317-213-5785 or msdiananajjar@gmail.com. Currently we are studying by zoom, but we plan to meet together when the opportunity arises.
