He went to one of the Egyptian monasteries with his two brothers, Anoub and Paisius, and all three received monastic tonsure. The brothers were such strict ascetics that when their mother came to the monastery to see her children, they did not come out to her from their cells. The mother stood there for a long time and wept. Then Saint Pimen said to her through the closed door of the cell, \u201cDo you wish to see us now, or in the future life?\u201d Saint Pimen promised that if she would endure the sorrow of not seeing her children in this life, then surely she would see them in the next. The mother was humbled and returned home.<\/p>\n<p>Fame of Saint Pimen\u2019s deeds and virtues spread throughout the land. Once, the governor of the district wanted to see him. Then we will pass into eternity with all these faults and sins. <b>Elder Thaddeus(Strabulovich) of Vitovnica<\/b><\/p>\n<p>People are very fickle in their opinions: what they praise today, they forget or even condemn tomorrow. And of course, by telling of what is praiseworthy in you, you are making yourself unworthy of praise from God, because you are receiving your reward from people. <b>Metropolitan Gregory (Postnikov) of St. Petersburg<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Do not fear the drought within you. The life-giving rain comes from above, not from your own hard soil below, which brings forth only thorns and thistles (Genesis 3:18). Do not wait, therefore, for any \u201cstate,\u201d for ecstasy or rapture or other desire-laden experiences. Prayer is not for the sake of enjoyment. <b>Tito Colliander<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Guard your mind, and you will not be harassed by temptations. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He rose on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God, which is with me. (19:16-26)<\/p>\n<p>At that time, a young man came up to Jesus, kneeling and saying, &ldquo;Good Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?&rdquo; And He said to him, &ldquo;Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.&rdquo; He said to Him, &ldquo;Which?&rdquo; And Jesus said, &ldquo;You shall not kill, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, honor your father and mother, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.&rdquo; The young man said to Him, &ldquo;All these I have observed; what do I still lack?&rdquo; Jesus said to him, &ldquo;If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>When the young man heard this, he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions. And Jesus said to his disciples, &ldquo;Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
